Dear Parents,
The date of March 12th 2020 will forever resonate in my mind when the Minister announced school closure. Teachers pulled lessons together quickly. We didn’t know what was going to happen. Your children didn’t know what was going to happen. There was a sense of anxiety as we headed to the unknown. We still are faced with that but just remember this WILL pass and we will be delighted to be back to school, back to our friends, back to normal!
In the meantime please keep handwashing and remember social distancing. I know this is hard and challenging. It is hard on you, your parents, your family, your friends, your teacher too. We are all in the same boat.
Remember to check the school blog - http://culleensballina.scoilnet.ie/blog/ under the page “Coronavirus” for lots of activities to keep busy. There are lots of fun activities and link to websites there. However please respect your parent’s wishes with screen time. As we said during the year technology can be a wonderful thing but it also can be dangerous. Remember too much of a good thing is bad.
I will also have a copy of this work on our class blog – https://misshallinanculleens.weebly.com/
and possibly some videos/links.
Your children would be due to get their Easter Holidays on 3rd April so there is work for 30th March – 3rd of April. Your child is due to return to school on Monday 20th of April.
However I have also work for the first week back after Easter 20th – 25th April on this sheet just incase………
If we are still closed after this I will email work on a weekly basis and I will also put it on this blog.
All of your child’s book are now available as ebooks as book publishers have lifted their strict log in procedures. See the school blog “Coronavirus” – Books for links. This many enhance the learning experience more for your child as there are online activities, weblinks, etc available for the different pages.
There’s lots to keep you busy! Please remember to help out at home as much as you can.
First Holy Communion
We do not know what will happen with the First Holy Communion service yet. This is scheduled for the 23rd of May. However in the meantime you can keep reading over your Prayers and the Liturgy of the Word/Mass Responses in preparation. You need to know your mass responses.
Start learning two new prayers – Prayer Before Communion and the Prayer After Communion.
If you have lost your prayer sheet (from your homework folder) you can look at the school blog under “Coronavirus - Communion”. The sheets are there or check the back of your Grow in Love Book.
