Today we were listening to the The Cats’ Duet by Gioacchino Rossini. We thought it was very funny. I wonder what the cat's are singing about? Here are two different boy's choirs singing. To help with learning your Irish Poems I have uploaded the two poems with a voice recording so you can practice at home. Today in Geography we were looking at maps. We had to look at the map of the zoo and find where the animals were. We listened to this song first. Sing along. It's a great song. Here is a link to look at the map of Dublin Zoo http://www.dublinzoo.ie/30/zoo-map-and-guide.aspx
Check out the Dublin Zoo Webcams and see live footage of the penguin, wolf and elephant habitats as well as the African Savanna at Dublin Zoo - http://www.dublinzoo.ie/17/Webcams.aspx Today we listened to this song called "What I Am". We then listened to another song called "Being Me". We are all special and unique in God's eyes. We then brainstormed lots of words to describe us e.g. I am friendly, I am caring, I am gentle, I am helpful. After we did our "I am" mapping page in our SALF scrapbooks. We were proud to share these with the class. We have been working hard on our tens and units in maths over the last week. Here are some pictures of our notation boards and ten frames. We learned an important rule this week - "You cannot have more than 9 units in Ziggy's house". So if there are 9 units and another unit wants to join, all the 9 units and the new unit must move to the tens to make a ten. Ziggy has no more room for them in his unit's house. We always start or finish our maths with some mental maths/brain breaks. Here's a fun one to try out and get fit at the same time. We had great fun in PE today. Firstly we warmed up to the opposites game. teacher called out Stop which meant we run, when teacher called out go we had to stop running, when she called out up we had to lie down and when she called out down we had to stretch high. Then we played the chasing game called Tickly Cat. We then started our dances. We started with this funny one - What did the Fox Say? Then we danced the Gummy Bear Dance. We then danced the Birdie Dance with a partner. After we did a dance to "Cheerleader" song and finally we learned a line dance to "Cotton Eye Joe". It was great fun. We finished with our cool down streching out. We were all roasting after.
