We are learning about Germany this week and looking at famous German people. Albert Einstein was born in Ulm in Germany in 1879. He loved maths and science. When he was five years old his father gave him a magnetic compass. This triggered his interest in how things work. IN 1921 he won the Nobel Prize in Physics. Bethoven also a famous composer who was born in Bonn in Germany in 1770. He lost his hearing and eventually became completly deaf, but he continued to compose music. Moonlight Sonata is one of Beethoven's many famous pieces.

Today we visited the two Junior Infant classes to teach them how to use Bee Bots. We had great fun. Some of us decided that we wouldn't like to be teachers and some of us loved it. Well done 2nd class for your patience and expertise.
This week is Science Week. We are working in groups of 3 or 4 to present an experiment to the school on Friday during assembly. Stay tuned for photos and updates. Here is a little taster from Science Bob showing one of the experiments.

It was great fun. We will continue with the stations tomorrow again. Next week we hope to visit the Infant Classrooms and teach them how to use Bee Bots. This morning we had a lovely treat from 2 student teachers from Saint Pats College in Dublin - Ms McCarrick and Ms O'Boyle. Using the iPads and laptops we did an hour of Code. We had to pick a character from Minecraft - Steve or Alex. To complete the Voyage Aquatic we had to solve puzzles using code. The screen is split into 3 areas - The Minecraft World, the middle area is the toolbox which contanins coding commants and on the right is the workspace where you give commants to build your programme and control your movements. Have a go at home. It was great fun. Check out the link - https://studio.code.org/s/aquatic/stage/1/puzzle/1 |
