At last we got to bring home our Paper Mache Pigs. They turned out great. We used a balloon and toilet rolls for the form. Then we on newspaper which was dipped in PVA glue and water. We applied this in layers. When it was dry we painted the pigs and gave them eyes and a curly tail.
Today we were learning about adjectives. We know that adjectives describe a noun e.g. a boring sentence like The cat sat on the wall can be made more interesting by adding adjectives e.g. The black and white furry cat sat on the high wall.
As Halloween is coming we then worked in pairs to write a monster poem. We used the website http://www.lancsngfl.ac.uk/curriculum/literacy/lit_site/html/fiction/my_monster/index.htm to create our poems using lots of adjectives. It was great fun. Tomorrow we will illustrate our monsters.
We had a wonderful morning in the Ballina Arts Centre on Wednesday. We looked at the exhibition "Knowledge Flow" by artist Leah Hilliard. The setting was so appropriate overlooking the River Moy which is the Salmon Capital of Ireland. The interactive exhibition explored the ways in which knowledge flows between people and generations in today’s digital society. The wall pieces are accompanied by an audio track accessed through the use of discovery pens. The exhibition looks at how symbols can tell a story. The story on display was the Salmon of Knowledge. Felt is the main material used. Each display told part of the story through symbols. It was really interesting. At the end there are 9 different symbols which look at the 9 different types of intelligence. After the exhibition we had our snacks before walking to the swimming pool, On the way there we crossed over the pedestrian bridge. The river looked so calm on one side and then very busy on the other beside the weirs. We passed the Augustinian Abbey which is beside St. Muredach’s Cathedral where we will make our First Holy Communion. Why not bring your families along to the Arts Centre for a look. Runs until 1st November. Admission: Free When you take a picture of the image of the fish with the flash on it looks completely different. The artist used hi-visibility material mounted on felt with bronze threading
Here is a video where you can listen to the tune Blowing Bubbles.

We worked in pairs to write the script for the Irish legend The Salmon of Knowledge. We then drew pictures. Teacher scanned them in. We then recorded our piece into the microphone and added a title to the slide. Have a look at The Salmon of Knowledge.
