The pops were so refreshing this evening.
We were working on our procedural genre again today. We read a procedural piece on making citrus lemonade and identified the different parts to the procedure. We then looked at the procedure to make Watermelon Pops by writing in the title, ingredients and what you need, the step-by-step process using words like First, Next, Then and Finally. The pops were so refreshing this evening.

We are really enjoying Digital Art week. We are using a different website or app everyday for the week. The children are learning so many new skills - turn taking, capturing a QR Code. taking screen shots, cropping a picture and adding their name digitally using Markup. For our first digital art lesson we used a site called Scrap Colouring - http://scrapcoloring.com/texts/coloring-pages Our next site was from https://www.jacksonpollock.org/Stay tuned for more...We were working hard on place value last week. There are so many ways to represent a number...Have a look.
Here's a sneaky peek of our new classroom! We are in the red room. We are loving our new interactive panel!
We are working on the procedural genre in English. This procedural genre is any text where you follow directions in a step-by-step format.
There are some very bossy verbs when you read or write a procedure e.g. mix, jump, whisk, beat, cut, chop. We read some nice procedural texts and carried out two procedures: 1. Draw a tulip following the instructions 2. Make some Rice Krisipie buns - one of our class even wrote a note from Miss Hallinan to warn the other teacher NOT to eat our buns while they were setting in the fridge! Thank goodness none of them were eaten in the new staffroom! Stay tuned for more procedures in the next few weeks.... Friday 22nd of March marked the last day for 1st Class and I in this prefab.
I have had so many fond memories over the years teaching in this prefab but I am so excited to begin our new journey in the new Culleens school. I hope that I will be as happy in the new school as I was in this one. I am so excited to be working in a concrete building for the first time. I couldn't ask for a nicer class to finish my time teaching in the prefab and to share the new school with. Roll on next week 1st Class. All will be revealed...
Some performances from Seachtain na Gaeilge 2024. Children dressed in green on March 15th to mark Saint Patrick's weekend. Enjoy!
We had great fun checking out our salt crystals. We dissolved salt in warm water until no more salt would dissolve. We then put in a pipe cleaner shaped as a candy cane into the solution. After a couple of weeks on a window we were left with the salt crystal deposits on the candy canes.
Saturday January 10th marked the beginning of the Chinese New Year - The Year of the Dragon.
We made some paper lanterns, made a money wallet and made a dragon. We sang the Chinese New Year Song - Gun Hay Fat Choy. Our classroom is a sea of red and yellow. We are learning about time. We learned that there are 60 seconds in 1 minute. We completed some one minute challenges. In these pictures we are making the tallest tower we can using cubes for 1 minute.
