Thursday 15th of September was International Dot Day. We made some lovely dot prints. We also listened to the story called "The Dot" by Peter H Reynolds. Teacher then gave us a picture of a dot. We used an app called "Quiver" and scanned in the QR code on the school iPads. This allowed us to bring our dot to life - from a 2D version to a 3D version. Our dots were so cool. We learned how to "AirDrop" our creation to teacher's iPad so they could be printed off. Have a look at some of them! For the next few weeks in English, we will be working on the Explanation Genre. We will be reading lots of explanation texts and learning how to write an explanation piece of writing. The Explanation Genre is all about the questions - Why and How e.g. Why should you brush your teeth? How do Snails Move? Why Do we get Sick? What are Goosebumps? How do you make Paper Mache?
Let's Find Out, RTEjr's science series asks lots of these questions. You can watch it on RTÉ Player whenever you want! - Let's Find Out Series All aboard the spaceship Curiosity, captained by a furry alien named Zoom and her human crew mates - the scientists. In each episode, Zoom asks a question about planet earth and the crew try to answer it for her, along with the help of some super smart earthling kids. They also have a page with cool experiments from the series - www.rte.ie/learn/lets-find-out/ How nice are these scrap colouring names which we used to stick on our book boxes. Well done Digital Artists!
If you would like to try name scrap colouring at home click here. 2nd Class are the lucky class in the school to start gymnastics lessons! We will have classes on a Wednesday for 5 weeks in Nadia Gym.
