We had great fun revising our addition using a game called Scoot. When teacher called "Scoot" we had to move to another place and find a new sum. We kept a record on our answer sheets. It was great fun. It got hard near the end to find a place we had not scooted to! But it was great fun. Have a look at this short video.

We had great fun working in our groups to present the story Put the Bell on Belinda for Reader's Theatre. Have a look.
We had great fun exploring our tens and units using a Walkabout Tens and Units Game from Seomra Ranga. Our two helpers placed 26 cards around the classroom. We then had to work in pairs to walkabout the classroom and find out the number shown on the abacus and record it on our record card.
We revised synonyms (similar words) and antonyms (opposites) in class. We then had great fun using the iPads to complete QR code quest to find the correct word for the synonym or antonym. We worked in pairs for this. There was great teamwork going on.
Well done to our latest colouring competition winners. We did some mindful colouring based around the weather theme.
We were lucky to go the library on Tuesday 22nd of January. We had a great time. We firstly got an overview of the library and its services. Then we listened to two stories read by the librarian. They were very funny. For one of the stories we got to dance. Afterwards we headed downstairs and explored the children's section. We learned we could borrow up to 12 items for 3 weeks. Some of us became new members and were able to borrow books.
We explored the work of American artist Jackson Pollock using marbles in a box. We then used the website www.jacksonpollock.org/ to create our own digital paintings (if you want to try it at home Internet Explorer works better, or on an iPad use the Puffin browser). The children used the website on the iPads using Puffin. They then took a screenshot of their pictures and emailed them to our storage account. You can find out more about Jackson Pollock here. Have a look at our creations.
Today we were learning about the importance of wearing hi-vis clothes when out playing, walking or cycling. We all took the Hi-Glo Silver pledge today.
When I walk or cycle, night or day, after school or when I go to play, I promise to make sure that I am seen, In reflective clothing that is bright orange, yellow or green. "Be Safe, Be Seen" We are going to take part in the Hi-Glo Silver Competition. We are going to design a poster - the one which will be best seen in the dark will win. We will hold a class competition first and then pick one winner to represent 2nd Class in Culleens. Get designing. You can play a game from the RSA called Snake and Hazards Game here. Remember: Wear bright, high-visibility clothing - both day and night. Here we are wearing our wristbands. |
