The Chinese New Year begins on the 1st of February this year and they will celebrate the Year of the Tiger.
The Chinese zodiac follows a twelve year cycle, each of the years being named after an animal. The Chinese believe that people born in a particular year take on the characteristics of the animal associated with that year. Most of our class were born in the year of the snake and some were born in the year of the horse. It is said that the "animal hides in your heart".

15 days after the New Year festivities is the Lantern Festival. Did you know that during the Lantern Festival, lantern owners often place riddles on the lanterns? If you guess the riddle correctly you can win a prize. We are solving riddles at school and on Seesaw too for a small prize.
We made some lanterns and money wallets. Red and gold are lucky Chinese colours. We also did some colouring about the Year of the Tiger and made a door hanger with a tiger. We also had a lovely treat of prawn crackers from Abbie. Next week we will learn more facts about China.
